Another fairly short Dahl story, but this one was even more enjoyable than usual. I especially liked the songs and the rhymes scattered here and there (mostly sung by the monkey, who is the "me" in the title), which are all clever and funny. The story is fantastic, about a trio of talking animals (a giraffe, a pelican, and a monkey) who set up a window-washing business, and end up as heroes (of course, there's a boy named Billy who helps in the whole matter). It was interesting to find some lines from the Willy Wonka film (such as "suck 'em and you can spit in seven colors") - I guess the authors of the screenplay really read lots of Dahl's work to get a taste of it! As usual, there are fantastic illustrations throughout, which follow the story exactly and make it even more interesting. I would love to see this as a cartoon!Labels: books
