Another great Christmas gift, this book takes a look at one of Disney's most interesting artists, best known for the design of It's a Small World (first for the New York World's Fair and later at Disneyland). The majority of the book is simply pages of beautiful works of art, including conceptual paintings for Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan (I would love to have one of these on my wall!). Her style, which is discussed in the book in quite an art historian tone, is filled with bold, unrealistic (yet beautiful) color and flat shapes (in fact, some of her works look like Samurai Jack backgrounds that I love so much!). A brief chronology of her life (which has a sad ending, unfortunately) is included, but it's the pictures that speak for themselves!Labels: books, disney
