 Here comes the parade of books my parents got me for Christmas! This is my second Roald Dahl story to read, and I loved it - I was already a big fan of the fantastic movie (which always makes me cry when James discovers he's loved), so it was a joy to read the book. The story has several episodes that didn't make it into the movie (and of course, the movie has some things that weren't in the book), including a great sequence with cloud people making the weather and causing trouble for James and the insects flying in the peach. The poetry sections are really wonderful (as they were in Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator) - I'm hoping that's a usual thing for Dahl's books!Labels: books |
