Normally I would have bought this DVD set right away, since I love Disneyland so much, but I decided to rent it instead, because I've seen most of the segments on the Disney Channel. The main thing that's cool about the set is the original live ABC broadcast from the opening day in 1955 - the whole thing was shot with 22 live cameras, hosted by folks like Art Linkletter and Ronald Regan! It's really fun to watch things like the dedication speeches and flag raising, and then see the attractions filling up for the first time. Overall, the show is kind of a disaster, but is still pretty amazing for the time. The rest of the segments on the DVD are cool, but as I mentioned, I've already seen them all recently.Labels: disney, dvds
